I guess I should post a bit about myself...My name is Mark Cheng. I'm 30 years old and live in NJ..I feel like a bit of an enigma...I love watching movies, love science fiction...I'm a 1997 graduate of Cornell University's film/theater program...became a web developer and graphic designer...started my own consulting company...then got my MBA...and now I'm coming back to film!! What a long route! But film making is the most expensive art form/hobby on the freaking planet!!!! More about me after the jump...
Here's a more thorough bio:
After graduating Cornell University with a BA in film/theater production, I started to work in NYC as production assistant on such projects as Chef-BoyRDee ravioli commercials and MTV music videos including Jay Z's "The Streets is Watching."
After a year of doing this, I left the world of production to work for Grey Advertising as a media buyer. There, I purchased airtime from cable networks for commercials on behalf of Grey's clients which included Ethan Allen and Rogain. I was soon tempted by the internet bubble and left Grey to start my own web design consulting company, Creation Matrix, where I created sites for clients like the Singapore General Hospital. I eventually joined a fast growing financial trading firm as their webmaster and oversaw the construction of their global equities website which was used by other trading firms like Ameritrade and Datek. I spent the next couple years developing financial trading applications and then decided to relaunch Creation Matrix.
While I was doing all this work, I was attending Rutgers University's part-time MBA program where I supplemented my technical skills with courses focused on marketing and entrepreneurship. This past May, I received my MBA degree and have just recently appeared in NJBiz Magazine's "Finance and Growth Guide 2005" as a featured entrepreneur.
And now, after that long trip, I'm back in the worl of production, but making my own film!
So I've been writing and making mini films and commercial specs since college where I made action movies. Deployment Strategy will be my largest project to date.
