Programmer's Desktop

Yo yo, this past weekend we completed the pickups for the film and now have all the live action footage!
So, I've uploaded a new effect i wanted to share with you...
This one is the computer programmer's desktop. there are several shots throughout the film of what the rogue programmer is doing. in order to make it look like a futuristic desktop, i designed a new looking desktop and created a webpage out of it. I then view the webpage in Internet Explorer, and use the browser's "full screen" mode to hide the entire interface. The laptop i was using has a 1024 x 768 screen resolution, so my page is made to that spec.
Here's the actual page I used to film this sequence! This page shows the progress of the programmer's software. I coded the progress screen so that I could easily configure what stage I wanted to the animation to display. So in the beginning, it's in phase 1 of 3...then by the end of the film we see the install screen go to 100% of phase 3 of 3. The page uses Flash 8 because I have some looping video to create an progress animation. Also, the graphics and stuff aren't really optimized to be downloaded quickly because I was just loading it off the computer's harddrive. (so it may take a while to load!)
And here's how the final scene in the film!!
The fine cut that Chris, the composer, is using to score the film contains several placeholder plates that just describe what the shot would contain. Now I have the footage to fill it in! All that's left is for the 3D shots to be completed and then there will really be no more placeholders!!
Well, gotta go!
