sup all, woah, i'm getting tired! In addition to the day job, i've been committing 4-6 hours a day on the vfx for the film - 1 hour on the train each way + another 2-4 hours in the evening!!
I've been meaning to post some samples for you, but i just don't want to take any time away from actually creating them. many shots are just muzzle flashes and shell ejections- standard stuff now - but there are some others that are just so much fun to do- the thing is, I'm hesitant to show them to you cuz many of them are major plot points that would really ruin the viewing.
so instead, I thought I'd post some links of great places to learn and get vfx assets to enhance your own action flicks...
Video Copilot - is a sweet place to buy some great and inexpensive assets, as well as to watch helpful tutorials. I've purchased and used extensively the Action Movie Essentials package. The tutorials are great for someone like me who knows a bit about After Effects but wants to get a bit more dangerous!
Detonation Films - These guys are awesome! they have the largest library of vfx assets that one could hope for! you can download almost all of them for free (which can take a looong time) or buy them on disk.
Prolost's blog - This guy's been around a while and is one of the original founders of the Orphanage the awesome vfx company. i think they also were the original creators of the Magic Bullet software. Prolost has done a lot for the indie action filmmaker so check him out! I can't wait for his new book to come out!!! One more thing- their trailer, The Last Birthday Card made my head explode when I first saw it and it's given me some solid direction as to where I want to go and how I plan to get there as a filmmaker!!!!
more updates soon!!
